NECO proudly celebrates Dr. Amy Moy, OD ’03, Senior Director of Community Health Initiatives and Optometric Compliance, for being recognized with two of the profession’s most prestigious honors in 2025.
Dr. Moy was recently named one of Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical, recognizing leaders whose vision, innovation, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the profession. In addition, she will be honored with a Theia Award of Excellence from Women In Optometry (WO) during the 10th annual awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following the Women’s Leadership Conference at the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) meeting in Boston.
With over two decades of experience in community health optometry, Dr. Moy co-leads the NECO Clinical Network and serves as associate professor of clinical optometry. She is also the instructor of record for Patient Care II and Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice. Her leadership has advanced initiatives in culturally inclusive care, interprofessional collaboration, and clinical compliance, shaping how NECO prepares future optometrists to serve diverse patient populations.
Her national contributions include serving as a fellow of the National Academies of Practice, chairing the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry Clinical Affairs Committee, and leading the AAO Community Health Center Special Interest Group.
Reflecting on her role as an educator, Dr. Moy shared: “What excites me most about education is witnessing the moment a student truly gets it—that spark when understanding clicks into place. I’ve seen it when students connect social determinants to health outcomes and in clinic when interns move beyond formulas to confidently build a differential diagnosis. These are the moments when learners shift from memorizing to thinking like clinicians.”
The Theia Awards of Excellence honor women who have made extraordinary contributions to optometry and their communities. Each year, WO advisory board members select recipients from more than 150 nominations nationwide. Dr. Moy’s recognition reflects her dedication to advancing healthcare equity, mentoring the next generation, and building collaborative models of care.
