Domestic violence is a pervasive problem that can impact people of any gender, age, or race. According to a 2010 survey, about 36% of women and 29% of men in the US reported experiencing intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Domestic violence can cause physical and emotional trauma, financial stress, and housing instability, impacting all areas of life.
People experiencing domestic or dating violence often feel isolated and unsure of how to escape the situation. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, NECO joins organizations nationwide to echo this year’s theme: With Survivors, Always.
