After cheering on his grandsons at their regattas, NECO President Emeritus, Dr. Clifford (“Scotty”) Scott, discovered rowing for himself at Community Rowing, Inc. (CRI) in his late sixties. What began as an introduction to a new sport soon developed into a deep and lasting commitment.
Over the years, Scotty has advanced to become an accomplished age-group competitor, representing CRI at both national and international regattas. He continues to train diligently, rowing three mornings a week and competing with CRI’s Military/Veterans team.
This year brought a new milestone when he was invited to join the Octogenarian Boat in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta—a testament to his perseverance, athletic spirit, and passion for the sport. His group was featured in a Boston Globe article on October 22, 2025.
