I’d like to take a moment to reflect with sincerity and deep appreciation on what has been a wonderful, albeit challenging year for our community. We have navigated shifting demands in healthcare and education, and the ongoing evolution of our profession. Through it all, you have demonstrated resilience, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to our mission.
I continue to be inspired by our students who show up every day with determination and purpose, by our faculty whose dedication to teaching and patient care remains unwavering, and by our staff whose behind-the-scenes work ensures NECO continues to thrive. This year has reminded us of what is possible when we lean on one another and stay rooted in our shared values.
As we look toward 2026, I do so with genuine optimism. We are building momentum academically, clinically, and operationally. New initiatives in technology, curriculum innovation, clinical partnerships, and student support are already taking shape. We will continue to invest in the tools and structures that allow our community to grow, to lead, and to shape the future of optometric education and patient care.
Most importantly, we will carry forward the lessons of this year: the importance of empathy, collaboration, and finding strength in community. I am confident that 2026 will be a year of renewal; one where we advance our mission, support one another with intention, and elevate NECO’s role as a leader in the profession.
Thank you for all you do: for your work, your perseverance, and your commitment to NECO. I am deeply grateful to each of you. I hope the upcoming break provides time for rest, connection, and reflection.
Wishing you and your loved ones a healthy and restorative end to the year. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
