Canvas Dashboard & Courses: A Quick Guide

Searching for your courses in Canvas? Watch this quick video for essential, time-saving tips about your Dashboard and Courses that’ll help you stay organized and reduce frustration.

Here’s a quick guide to customizing your Canvas Dashboard and Courses experience:

Course Access, Organization and Filtering

When you click on “All Courses”, you can access a full list of all of your current, past, and future courses.

From the All Courses page, you can organize multiple courses effectively by:

  • Starring/Favoriting courses you use most often (so they appear on your Dashboard)
  • Filtering your course list to see current, past, or future courses
  • Searching for specific courses by name
  • Selecting courses to manage enrollment or view course details

The Dashboard is Your Canvas Homepage

The Dashboard serves as your personalized home page where you can see your courses at a glance, view recent announcements, check upcoming deadlines, and monitor recent activity. You can customize it by favoriting or hiding courses, and rearranging their order for quick access to the courses you use most frequently.

Pro Tip

Take time early in the semester to organize your courses on the Dashboard—star the ones you check regularly and become familiar with each course’s layout. This saves time and reduces confusion when juggling multiple classes.
