OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
Domestic violence is a pervasive problem, and can impact people of any gender, age, and race: According to a 2010 survey, about 36% of women and 29% of men in the US report experiencing intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Domestic violence can cause physical and emotional trauma, financial stress, and housing instability, impacting all areas of life.
People experiencing domestic or dating violence often feel isolated and not sure what they can do to escape the situation. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, NECO joins organizations nationwide to echo this year’s theme: With Survivors, Always.
