Celebrating National Prevention Week
Each year during the second week of May, we join SAMHSA and communities nationwide to celebrate National Prevention Week. This week aims to involve communities in raising awareness of substance use and misuse, as well as other mental health issues. At NECO, we are committed to fostering a professional and educational environment that is safe, healthy, and supportive for every student and employee.
If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use or misuse, you are not alone. Here are some resources for finding help:
For Students: Use Uwill to schedule therapy appointments with a licensed clinician. They can provide immediate care, refer you to a specialist, and provide crisis intervention. CAPA, Simone Jadczak, and others at NECO are always available to provide support.
For Employees: You and your dependents have 24/7 access to the GuidanceResources Employee Assistance Program. This is a confidential, no-cost service providing counseling for alcohol and drug abuse. Reach out anytime at 800-311-4327 or by visiting guidanceresources.com (company ID GEN311). Human Resources can help you understand your options and get internal support.
Immediate Help: If you or someone you care about is in crisis, you can call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or contact the MA Urgent Care for Mental Health and Substance Use hotline at 833-773-2445.
