Through the generous support of the H. Eric Cushing Foundation, in partnership with Eschenbach Optik, Mattingly Low Vision, Precision Vision, and New England College of Optometry (NECO), eight distinguished 2026 Doctor of Optometry graduates who have contributed significantly to NECO’s low vision clinical research program, have received state-of-the-art low vision assessment and rehabilitation equipment to launch or expand low vision services within their practices.
Access to low vision rehabilitation remains a significant challenge across the United States, with demand far exceeding the availability of trained providers and specialized equipment. By equipping emerging clinicians with the tools needed to deliver evidence-based rehabilitation services, this initiative expands access to care in underserved communities, strengthens the network of low vision providers, and helps ensure that individuals with vision impairment can receive the support they need to maintain independence and quality of life.
Through this collaborative effort, a new generation of clinicians, Drs. Olivia Wynn, Chris Yeung, Shan Brady, Erica Pacheco, Priyanshi Patel, Sophia Godin, Bianca Guzman, and Sonaina Merchant are better equipped to deliver specialized rehabilitation services to patients and families who need them most.
